Endangered Species Act back from the dead

March 3

Things are really starting to shape up around here…

“Endangered species are breathing a deep sigh of relief today. The consultation process is the heart of the Endangered Species Act power. By reversing Bush’s attempt to deregulate the consultation process, Obama restored oversight and balance and has given endangered species a good fighting chance of survival.” – Obama Restoring Endangered Species Act Provision

Senators against gun control

February 26

Senator Thune (SD) introduced an amendment that would force states to allow carrying of concealed guns even by dangerous people barred by state law from possessing a gun. And Senator Ensign (NV) introduced an amendment that would repeal D.C. gun laws and threaten homeland security. Both of these amendments would endanger public safety, and we must urge our Senators to reject them.

Senators DeMint and Graham turned their backs on us when they voted for an amendment to repeal D.C. gun laws that would endanger public safety and threaten homeland security. We need to let them know we are disappointed with their votes.

Call your Senators today. The Senate needs to hear from people who support sensible gun laws today!

Confucius On ‘World Philosophy Day’: “I’m So Confused”

November 20

Since the 2008 edition of World Philosophy Day takes place in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration for Human Rights, I wonder what Confucius would say about China’s human rights record – the same country that’ll probably be THE next bully on this big blue ball before the end of the century.

*note: ‘funny’ is one of the tags I used for this post, but rest assured I do not find China’s human rights record funny, quite the opposite in fact!

On Mark Cuban, Why Do All The Cool People Hate Bush?

November 18

My takeaway from one of a million recent articles referencing Mark Cuban’s public stance against the SEC:Mark Cuban

…an SEC staffer unaffiliated with this investigation harangued Cuban for being “unpatriotic” because he funded the conspiracy-theory documentary Loose Change, which was critical of the Bush White House.

Can you say, “CLASSIC?” I think he’s even cooler now!

*UPDATE 11/8/8: I just heard on CNN that Bush has bought a ‘cheap’ $2M house near Mark Cuban in Texas – ya’ll have fun now, ya’ hear?! :-)

Former Corporate Attorney Resists Wal-Mart Takedown Notice

November 14

The ‘Black Friday’ coupon warsWal-Mart logo have started, and Wal-Mart wants to insure Michael Arrington of TechCrunch and everybody else stays off their turf.

His resistance is so enticing, I’ll have to stay tuned for an outcome on this one.
