Jensen went to kitty heaven today

Our Jensen went to kitty heaven this morning. Nat’s had her for 15 years – that’s 80 for you and I – and almost 4x as long as we’ve been married.

Lung disease was kickin’ her down – so much so she was practically gasping for air. She’d just lay there on the floor all day resting, and we knew her extreme weight loss and heavy breathing weren’t good signs. It got so bad, we couldn’t wait any longer for the medicine’s increased dosage to take effect, and once I reminded Nat how freaked out I was when I couldn’t breath from pneumonia last year, we were off to the vet.

An overnight stay in the oxygen room was no help, so in the end, we felt giving Jensen some rest was best. We were petting and saying our goodbyes when the nurse pushed an overdose of anesthesia through her catheter. Just like that, our purring Jensen with the great personality was gone.

I lost 20 lbs. and got a couple of weeks of bed rest out of the deal, but at least I’m still here. Poor Jensen, although she never whimpered once and was a true hero to the end, just couldn’t push past 80.

We’ll miss you Jensen!

That is a good picture of her. I need to round up all of our pictures so we can make an album. I looked at some kitties on the humane society web page but I’m worried that none of them will be as good as Jensen.

So very sorry to hear about Jensen! That was a cool cat!!! You gave her a great life & a peaceful ending……sorry, I know you’re sad!!

I’m so sorry, Billy. You both must feel lost without her around. Our little poodle was very sick last week and we thought we were going to lose him. He had a uti and bladder infection. His name is Jean Luc. He’s doing better now although he’s still on antibiotics. The vet had him on an iv for three days.
