Senators against gun control

February 26

Senator Thune (SD) introduced an amendment that would force states to allow carrying of concealed guns even by dangerous people barred by state law from possessing a gun. And Senator Ensign (NV) introduced an amendment that would repeal D.C. gun laws and threaten homeland security. Both of these amendments would endanger public safety, and we must urge our Senators to reject them.

Senators DeMint and Graham turned their backs on us when they voted for an amendment to repeal D.C. gun laws that would endanger public safety and threaten homeland security. We need to let them know we are disappointed with their votes.

Call your Senators today. The Senate needs to hear from people who support sensible gun laws today!

The Ensign amendment would undermine federal anti-trafficking laws, repeal D.C.’s ban on dangerous military-style weapons, allow teenagers to possess semiautomatic assault rifles, and prohibit D.C. from passing laws that could “discourage” gun possession or use, even by felons, children or other dangerous persons. This amendment is reckless and irresponsible.
